Electric Distribution Construction Technical Intern - Edina, MN

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our construction team in electric distribution operations. This role offers hands-on experience in project coordination, field support, and administrative tasks within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The intern will work closely with managers and coordinators to ensure smooth execution of construction projects and contribute to operational efficiency.

- Assist in scheduling and coordinating field crews and construction activities

- Support documentation and tracking of project progress, materials, and work orders

- Help prepare reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders

- Participate in site visits and safety audits as needed

- Communicate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to support project needs

- Maintain organized records and assist with data entry and analysis

- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and team meetings

This position is for a June 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field

- Must be a current Sophomore or higher

- Strong organizational and communication skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

- Interest in electric utility operations and infrastructure projects

- Valid driver's license and personal vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with GIS, scheduling software, or project management tools

- Previous internship or work experience in construction or utilities

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $17.00 to $27.20 per hour
