Position Summary
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operating a drone to measure stock piles of raw materials. The Drone Operator controls the drone, causing it to take off, stay on course, and land safely. The Drone Operator will conduct safety tests, oversee vehicle performance, and assess drone systems’ capabilities. May also operate cameras or other equipment the drone carries. Travel is necessary as this position will service locations in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.
Responsibilities
•Check drones before a flight to ensure safe and proper operation
•Analyze weather forecasts to ensure safe flights
•Document pre- and post-flight logs
•Monitor drones during flight
•Plan drone flight routes
•Navigate drones along designated paths
•Gather information or produce aerial photographs as needed
•Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Minimum Education and Experience
•High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
•Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA (FAA part 107) required
•Experience in mining or similar industry required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Surveying knowledge and skills
•Experience with DroneDeploy preferred
•Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word
•Excellent electronic and mechanical skills
•Time management and judgement skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
•Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing
•Out of town travel required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner
•Will work in varied environments (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions)
•Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants
