The Drafter is responsible for producing high-quality engineering drawings, 3D models, and layouts in support of Ensign’s equipment design and manufacturing processes. This role supports engineering projects from concept through to final documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout.
- Develop detailed 3D models, schematics, and drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Prepare layouts, BOMs, and critical assembly instructions.
- Maintain and manage the As-Built Drawing Library (with managerial approval).
- Review and verify design work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
- Provide guidance and support to junior drafting and engineering staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support project needs (Engineering, Operations, Sales & Marketing).
- Complete and maintain project documentation in line with company standards.
- Ensure adherence to company, industry, and government safety and quality protocols.
- Participate in safety meetings and required training sessions.
- Technical certification in Engineering Technology or a minimum of 3–4 years of drafting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations considered an asset.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Experience with data management tools such as EPDM or Autodesk Vault.
- Understanding of project management fundamentals is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with quality systems (e.g., ISO, API) is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical systems are preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with drilling rig or heavy equipment, structural building, or manufacturing industries.
- Willing to train candidates who demonstrate strong potential and mechanical aptitude.
- Office-based role at the Nisku operations office.
- Collaborative, team-focused work environment.
- Occasional interaction with manufacturing and field teams may be required.
