Overview
Equity Solar is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Design Drafter to join our dynamic team. This position is responsible for the design of the plans for the installation of solar systems, ensuring the correct planning and execution of solar projects in state of Florida.

- Report to the Engineering Coordinator & Project Team Manager.
- Provide plans/drawings to the permitting specialist in a timely manner.
- Conduct audits on new sales design proposals; the annual production offered/proposed Vs the utility bill.
- Verify roof conditions and electrical conditions using imagery provided through site inspection/site assessment and determine if a new roof and/or main panel upgrade (MPU) is needed to support the solar PV system.
- Assist with the Operating Permit (PTO) and Interconnection Process with utility companies by providing explanations of plans if necessary.
- Assist with counties, cities, towns, and municipalities with new electrical engineer registrations when needed. Attend training sessions when needed.
- Work on timely reviews of Counties, Cities, Towns, and Municipalities.
- Call and email county, city, town, and township plan reviewers to clarify reviews, questions, and comments.
- A high level of professionalism and positive conduct is ESSENTIAL.
- Maintain high levels of quality assurance and control.
- Manage, guide, and create a secure and appropriate workflow for all projects.
- Manage images of the Site Survey/Site Assessment process via company email, iCloud, WhatsApp, Slack, email, Dropbox, CRM, etc. Company email and other software will be provided.
- Design of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems: Design and Development of Technical Drawings: Create, review and approve detailed drawings and designs for the installation of solar systems, including electrical, structural and grid connection plans. Coordinate the implementation of design best practices to optimize energy efficiency, costs, and installation time of solar systems.
- Create single-line electrical diagrams, panel schedules, or solar electrical system connection diagrams, using computer-aided design (CAD) software or any other approved software.
- Other inherent functions of the position
- Specialized software management: Mastery of tools such as AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, SketchUp for the design and simulation of photovoltaic systems.
- Solar performance analysis: Use of simulation software to evaluate the energy production of systems.
- Structural and electrical design: Preparation of electrical plans and diagrams for solar installations.
- National Electrical Code (NEC) Compliance: Electrical Enforcement for Solar Systems in the U.S.
- Local and state regulations (Florida, among others): Knowledge of specific requirements for permits and inspections.
- Safety and certifications: Implementation of OSHA regulations and best practices in the installation of solar systems.
- Solar Project Coordination: Planning and execution of projects in different phases, from design to installation.
- Remote team management: Effective collaboration with teams across time zones and cultures.
- Autonomous work and decision-making: Ability to solve problems and manage projects without constant supervision.
- Technical feasibility assessment: Site analysis, solar orientation, and system efficiency.
- Cost and Material Optimization: Efficient selection of components to maximize performance and reduce costs.
- Management of technical documentation: Creation and maintenance of plans, reports and permits for the facilities.
