Job Summary
The Document Management Specialist maintains an extensive amount of records, written communication, policy briefs, and systems specifications or manuals. This is an office-based job and requires excellent organizational skills.
The Document Management Specialist works to ensure the proper storage and maintenance of a company’s documentation and overall management of the ECM (Enterprise Content Management) system. The Document Management Specialist works within an organization’s systems to find the best method and format for their documentation work. Their job is not only to organize existing documentation according to these specifications, but also to make sure that new documents that are generated are properly stored as well.
The Document Management Specialist also must evaluate documents for proper categorization, and train end users to properly categorize documents. They must be proficient with computers, as even physical documents are normally computer-mapped for location. The specialists will also need to adapt existing documents to a variety of formats for ease of use when needed by other departments in the company. Additionally, the Document Management Specialist will be required to understand the scanning software solution for original document scanning.
