Provides complete project management for the detailed design, construction, testing, and close out of new distributed generation projects.
- Provides project management and leadership expertise in the development and construction of distributed generation projects. This position will be the one point of contact with the Customer/Developer from the design phase through in service date.
- Leads multi-disciplined teams comprised of internal and external members through project development, preparation, and execution phases including business approvals, assurance of permits and ROW, material procurement, contract procurement, construction management, safety oversight, and commissioning. This position will work hand in hand with Construction Managers through construction.
- Responsible for all project governance including budgets and forecasts, as well as approvals, project monitoring and control.
- Maintains project accuracy in the Capital system, and uses project management software (Smartsheet, Microsoft 365, etc.) to schedule, track and coordinate projects.
- Keeps records to facilitate the proper cost reconciliation and close-out of projects with operational accuracy, and appropriate financial and records retention closure.
- Ensures safety performance and environmental compliance for projects. Ensures implementation of the Company Contractor Safety Program.
- Manages communication, relationships, and stakeholder management with external parties including developers, local municipalities, property owners and businesses, and coordinates these efforts with internal resources.
- Understands and complies with all internal project development and procurement processes.
- This position will have a special focus on managing projects driven by distributed generation initiatives and will include project work on substations. Within this special role, key emphasis will be placed on scheduling, estimating, forecasting, collaborating, and coordinating with many parties. These other parties include the DER Manager, DG Interconnection Coordinators, Planning, Right of Way (ROW), Asset Management, Engineering, PST, Accounting, and Customers/Developers.
Performs other related duties as assigned including designated duties associated with storm restoration.
REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Position requires strong business acumen, project management, leadership and general management skills.
- Requires skills in work planning, scheduling, forecasting, organizing and analysis.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and team-building skills required.
- Position requires excellent technology skills, including proficiency in project management/scheduling software, SharePoint, Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, TM-1 Forecasting Software, and internal Company planning systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken required. Comfortable with public speaking in some settings.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, schedules, budgets, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in managing contractors and contract documents preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in project management, transmission/distribution line or substation operations, or related fields is preferred.
- Experience managing capital projects strongly preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Position requires both office and field work, and requires walking, standing, and driving. Construction projects require regular field visits to remote, outdoor job sites. Some evening meetings may be required. Some projects require overnight travel.
- Position requires flexible schedule at times.
- Position requires excellent technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Position requires frequent interaction with contractors and Versant Power employees.
- Position requires visual and mental concentration.
- Position requires extensive computer usage.
- Position may be stressful due to deadlines, workload, and interpersonal interactions under pressure.
- Position requires current/valid Driver’s License.
Usual work Monday through Friday, working between 40-50 hours is experienced. Off-hour work is also anticipated.
Salary Level is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
