About the Company - This position is on-site and can be located in the Akron HQ. The Director FERC & RTO Technical Support leads the organization that provides support to the transmission, distribution & generation businesses by developing, communicating, and supporting FirstEnergy’s position on transmission & PJM policy issues internally and externally at FERC, PJM, state regulatory agencies and with the other PJM Transmission Owners. This role facilitates the connection activities with Generators and Load customers interested in interconnecting with FE facilities across the FE footprint to conduct wholesale transactions. Responsibilities include developing and negotiating agreements, filing the agreements and related information with regulatory agencies as needed, administering the agreements, billing the contribution in aid of construction and conducting periodic customer meetings. Wholesale customers include generation developers, municipal/rural systems, and other utilities.
About the Role - Managing a team to perform the following duties: Lead FirstEnergy’s relationship with PJM senior leadership team and staff. Shaping the business units long term strategy and goals; aligning the business unit to achieve FirstEnergy’s strategic objectives. Defining and implementing strategic goals aligned with the company’s overall objectives. Implementing process improvements and operational best practices. Developing and managing budgets, forecasts and financial reports. Managing the analysis, policy development and preparation of supporting background materials for successful advocacy of transmission policy positions within FERC, PJM and State agencies. Tracking key performance indicators and ensuring targets are achieved. Reporting performance to senior executives and stakeholders. Identifying market trends and potential threats. Developing plans to mitigate risks. Developing of supporting analysis to drive policy positions that are aligned with corporate business strategies and supporting coordination of efforts for proactive advocacy. Assisting in coordination of policy considerations with subject matter experts, development of messaging materials and talking points for leadership or other internal stakeholders, preparing supporting analytics around key issues, drafting, or providing feedback on filed comments and participating in discussions with external stakeholders. Working with Legal & Rates on FERC and PJM filings. Working cross functional with legal, rates, state and external affairs. Building a high performing team and promoting a positive work culture. Monitoring key external activities at EEI or other RTO’s involving Transmission issues. Working weekly with the PJM Transmission Owners. Billing all contribution in aid of construction requirements.

Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, IT or similar discipline required
•Minimum ten (10) years’ relevant work experience required
•Relevant work experience may include Transmission, Rates, Billing or experience with PJM, project management or demonstrated leadership experience
•Previous leadership experience required
•Experience with Transmission or PJM strongly preferred
•Transmission connection working knowledge
•Strong negotiation skills preferred
•Knowledge and experience with regulatory FERC, PJM, state and cost recovery
•The ability to lead, train and direct staff involved with complex issues
•Advanced advocacy experience in engaging with and leading policy initiatives with multiple internal and external groups
•Experience with effectively and confidently presenting information and making recommendations involving complex issues to peers, senior management, customers and regulator staff
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team effort on assignments that may be broad in nature involving the compilation, preparation, and analysis of various statistical/analytical data, reports, statements, studies, or projects
