We are hiring a full-time Director, Project Management Office (PMO) position based in our corporate office in Phoenix, AZ.
As the Director, Project Management Office (PMO), you will lead a dedicated team focused on ensuring governance, efficiency, and continuous improvement across EPCOR Water USA’s capital, operating and maintenance projects. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards, overseeing project and program reporting, supporting financial planning, managing resource requirements, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the project management portfolio.
What you’d be responsible for:
•Establishing and enforcing project management methodologies and standards aligned with EPCOR’s Organizational Project Management framework and Capital Delivery Model.
•Ensuring project compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
•Identifying skill gaps and implementing training programs for project teams.
•Providing guidance on project management methodologies to project managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
•Overseeing project governance from initiation through closeout to ensure efficient and prudent asset deployment.
•Implementing systems to monitor project progress and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
•Developing portfolio-level reporting and metrics to track actuals, forecasts, and performance against targets.
•Defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project and program success.
•Preparing and submitting capital spending forecasts in collaboration with Finance.
•Supporting variance reporting and contributing project-related data for regulatory applications.
•Forecasting and tracking resource needs across capital projects; supporting resource planning and justification processes.
•Recommending long-term solutions to address resource gaps and assisting managers with staffing plans.
•Gathering feedback from project teams to identify process improvements and areas of opportunity.
•Continuously optimizing project management processes and collaborating with the Organizational Project Management Committee to integrate lessons learned and best practices.
What’s required to be successful:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, or a related field; MBA and/or PMP designation is desirable.
•Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in leading project management offices and project controls teams, managing capital projects, and developing multi-year Capital Improvement Plans.
•Experience in budgeting, cash-flow forecasting, policy and procedure development, and data analytics.
•Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop high-performing teams.
•Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Primavera P6, and Power BI.
•Knowledge of corporate governance, utility accounting, rate-making principles, capital project scheduling, and budgeting practices.
•Familiarity with data analysis methods and reporting techniques.
•Comfortable working in both office and occasional field environments, including travel (less than 20%).
•Physical ability to perform office tasks and occasional site visits, including in high-heat conditions and lifting up to 15 pounds.
