The Opportunity
StormFisher Hydrogen is seeking an experienced Director, Project Finance to lead project-level and portfolio-level financial structuring, modeling and execution across our renewable fuels platform. This individual will play a leadership role in evaluating the financial viability of major capital projects, optimizing funding strategies and supporting capital formation to enable project development and execution.
As a senior contributor in project finance, the Director, Project Finance will work closely with the finance, development, and commercial teams and serve as a key interface with capital providers, tax equity partners, offtake partners, and additional strategic stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of one of North America's leading green hydrogen and e-fuels developers.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead the financial evaluation and structuring of complex project finance transactions in support of execution of green hydrogen, e-fuels, energy storage, and related infrastructure projects.
•Build and oversee sophisticated financial models, that include tax equity, debt, and equity financing, capital expenditures, operating assumptions, and offtake structures.
•Apply deep knowledge of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, including tax credits (45V, PTC, ITC), bonus credits, direct pay, and transferability provisions, to maximize project value.
•Develop and maintain capital structuring strategies across the portfolio, balancing non-recourse debt, tax equity, and sponsor equity.
•Develop and execute financing strategies, including investment memoranda, term sheet negotiations, investor engagement, and financial closings.
•Lead financial due diligence in support of project development, M&A, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
•Serve as a thought partner to the development and commercial teams to align project structuring with commercial strategy, market risks, and offtake opportunities.
•Represent StormFisher Hydrogen in lender and investor discussions, building credibility through detailed financial insights and structured communication.
•Monitor market trends in renewable energy project finance, tax policy, capital markets, and risk management practices to support innovation and agility.
•Contribute to team development, mentoring finance team members and building internal tools and processes to scale finance capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA, CFA, or CPA strongly preferred.
•7+ years of progressive experience in project finance, renewable energy, infrastructure investment or structured finance.
•Extensive experience developing and managing complex financial models for large-scale infrastructure or clean energy projects.
•Deep understanding of project-level capital structures, including non-recourse debt, tax equity, and credit enhancements.
•Demonstrated experience leading deal execution processes, including due diligence, commercial negotiations, and closings.
•Strong understanding of U.S. clean energy incentives and regulatory frameworks.
•Track record of working cross-functionally and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
•Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills tailored to financial and non-financial audiences.
•High level of comfort with ambiguity, autonomy, and fast-moving project timelines.
Preferred Experience
•Deal execution experience within a project developer, infrastructure private equity or project finance firm, IPP, or clean fuels platform.
•Experience engaging with institutional investors, banks, and tax equity partners.
•Familiarity with green hydrogen, carbon markets, and environmental commodities.
•Experience building out tools, processes, or small teams in high-growth environments.
