Matalco is a leading producer in North America of high quality recycled aluminum slab and billet for the rolling, extrusion and forging industries using world class remelting technology. It operates five facilities in the United States and one in Canada with the capacity to produce approximately 1.8m pounds of recycled aluminum per annum. About the Role
Broadly described below is the main purpose of the job, including what the job does and why (the outcome). The Director Maintenance / Reliability will provide leadership in plant maintenance systems by developing short term and long term improvement plans with Plant Managers to improve equipment maintenance systems, and elevate competence of maintenance personnel at the plants.
Responsibilities
•Develop and maintain a plant maintenance scorecard and assist plant leadership in improving their competence and equipment uptime.
•Provide leadership for the preventative maintenance and upkeep of the plants and facilities equipment and required supplies to maximize uptime, minimize costs and meet health and safety regulatory standards; conduct research and data analysis to identify opportunities that will provide cost effective, short and long-term solutions.
•Present factually supported solutions which include return on investment and the benefits of implementing proposed solutions for improvement; develop and implement systems and processes to increase overall equipment effectiveness; researches and evaluates potential new equipment, processes, procedures, technologies and automation that may improve performance and/or cost.
•Maximizes the standardization of equipment across all plants; delivers consistent superior product quality by enforcing quality standards; maximizes equipment operation by developing and scheduling preventive maintenance and organizing change-overs.
Qualifications
Minimum
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
•10 years’ experience in heavy industry manufacturing
Preferred
•Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
•15 years’ experience in heavy industry, remelt operations manufacturing; multi-plant site experience
Required Skills
•Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen; knowledge of OSHA laws and training; strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft business applications; ability to read schematics.
