Description POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of DevOps is a senior technology leader responsible for shaping and executing enterprise-wide DevOps strategies, modernizing infrastructure, and driving cloud adoption. This role manages the design and operation of secure, scalable systems across on-premises and cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure. The Director of DevOps leads cross-functional teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, and integrate business intelligence solutions for data-driven decision-making. Additional responsibilities include improving development efficiency, fostering continuous improvement, and aligning DevOps initiatives with business goals to promote innovation and operational excellence. This position reports to the Vice President – IT in the Denver office.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive strategic leadership for DevOps, Infrastructure, and Cloud initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and optimization of Azure-based solutions, hybrid cloud environments, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Lead the development of CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and monitoring systems to improve software delivery and operational efficiency.
- Partner with data engineering team to integrate DevOps practices with analytics platforms, ensuring data pipelines and reporting systems are reliable and scalable.
- Establish and enforce best practices for infrastructure as code, configuration management, and system security.
- Collaborate with development, data, and business teams to ensure seamless integration of applications, infrastructure, and reporting tools.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending adoption strategies.
- Build and mentor a high-performing DevOps team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of DevOps practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Represent DevOps strategy in executive discussions, providing clear communication of technical initiatives and business impact.
- Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance DevOps capabilities and infrastructure.

- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of direct reports, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of team deliverables.
- Oversee day-to-day operations and workload distribution within the team.
- Support employee development through coaching, training, and career growth opportunities.
- Address performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment aligned with company values.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Proven leadership in DevOps, Infrastructure, and Cloud strategy.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, Data & Analytics, Security).
- Strong background in infrastructure design, automation, and operations (Windows/Linux, networking, storage, virtualization).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting and development languages (PowerShell, Python, C#, or similar).
- Strong understanding of business intelligence platforms (Power BI, Azure Synapse, or equivalent).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Foster collaboration across technical and business teams.
- Highly detailed with a systematic approach, sense of responsibility and strong, positive customer focus. Results focused to drive the defined team and organizational goals.
- Effectively manage work and projects; recommend solutions and efficiencies to improve existing projects and to identify opportunities for new automation and process improvements while maintaining a balance between existing workload and customer expectations.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Solid understanding of data quality concepts.
- Great communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex systems.
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment .
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- 15 years of progressive IT experience with 6+ years’ experience in a leadership role.- Success in leading DevOps transformations and cloud adoption initiatives.
- Expertise in taking data projects from ideation to implementation.
- Previous experience in Oil and Gas Exploration & Production
- Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-cloud strategies.
- Familiarity with advanced data engineering and analytics workflows.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
- Previous experience in industries with complex infrastructure needs (e.g., energy, manufacturing, or finance).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert 9or Equivalent)/
- ITIL or similar certification in IT service management.
- Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer
- Leader responsible for shaping DevOps strategy, infrastructure modernization, and cloud adoption across the enterprise. Directly impacts operational efficiency, system reliability, business intelligence capabilities.
- Contributes to the delivery of departmental goals through both personal effort and influence over team members.

This position is eligible for a 9/80 hybrid work schedule after 30-days of employment. Work is performed at office on Tuesdays through Thursdays, remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
