Job Description
The IT Director, Computing Infrastructure is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and modernization of the enterprise’s hybrid computing infrastructure. This role is also responsible for the architecture and the design of the ecosystem throughout the modernization journey. This includes on-premises systems, cloud platforms, and the foundational services supporting a modern data and AI ecosystem. The Director plays a critical role in evolving infrastructure practices toward automation, security, and scalability while leading a high-performing team and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Transformation:
•Develop and execute a forward-looking infrastructure strategy aligned with enterprise IT and business goals.
•Serve as a trusted advisor to senior IT and business leaders on infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, automation, and operational resilience.
•Serve as the Enterprise Architecture lead to align infrastructure capabilities with digital platform roadmaps.
•Promote a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement across infrastructure teams
Infrastructure Operations Management:
•Oversee the end-to-end operations of data center services, cloud environments, and foundational infrastructure platforms.
•Defining and track SLAs and key performance indicators (KPIs) for service delivery, uptime, and user experience.
•Support the implementation and execution of the enterprise backup and recovery processes and capabilities
•Ensure high levels of system availability, performance, and stability through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and incident management.
•Manage relationships with key infrastructure vendors and service providers, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Infrastructure Modernization and Cloud Strategy:
•Develop and execute a strategic cloud migration roadmap, identifying suitable workloads for cloud adoption and ensuring a seamless transition.
•Lead the transformation of legacy infrastructure environments through cloud adoption, workload re-platforming, and data center consolidation. Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and CI/CD-aligned automation practices.
•Build the organization's cloud infrastructure strategy, ensuring platforms are optimized for performance, security, and cost.
•Implement and oversee FinOps-aligned processes for cloud resource allocation, monitoring, and cost optimization.
•Evaluate emerging cloud services and technologies to enhance flexibility and accelerate innovation
Security and Compliance:
•Ensure the security and integrity of the computing infrastructure in both on-premises and cloud environments.
•Implement and maintain security best practices, policies, and procedures related to infrastructure.
•Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to address security vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
•Work with cybersecurity and IT Governance on disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing for the computing infrastructure.
Team Leadership and Development:
•Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of skilled infrastructure engineers and administrators.
•Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
•Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth.
•Identify training and development opportunities to enhance the team's technical skills and industry knowledge.
Education and Experience
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
•10 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure management, with 5 years in a leadership role.
•Extensive hands on experience managing both on-premises and cloud infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
•Deep understanding of DevOps best practices specific to the management of infrastructure.
•Proven track record of leading and executing infrastructure modernization and cloud migration projects.
•Proven track record developing and implementing architecture patterns for both cloud and on premise systems.
•Strong knowledge of server virtualization, storage technologies, networking principles, and operating systems.
•Experience working with Databricks, Fabric, or comparable data stacks.
•Excellent understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements for infrastructure and infrastructure as code.
•Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
