The Nuclear Company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Commercial, Markets & Structuring to lead the development of commercial strategy and structuring for our fleet of nuclear facilities. This position will require the development and implementation of commercial strategies in alignment with the company’s overall objectives and market opportunities, taking into consideration evolving energy market fundamentals, policy and consumer demand. Responsibilities include commercial structuring such as structured off-take agreements through Wholesale / Retail PPAs, leading commercial negotiations with all direct offtake customers, forming innovative structuring for data center, C&I and industrial customers to accelerate fleet deployment, representing the company at industry conferences, meetings, and events, and directing external professional services to deliver high quality definitive agreements. The role also involves monitoring evolving energy market conditions, compiling market data for senior leadership, maintaining a network of energy industry contacts, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, maintaining ethical standards, developing internal policies, creating a departmental roadmap including mission statement, KPIs, resourcing and deployment plan, overseeing department operations including budget decisions, collaborating cross-functionally, hiring and training staff, and managing performance of up to 10 staff members. Experience required includes 10+ years in commercial energy industry roles, a bachelor's degree in business or economics (master's preferred), proven success in deal origination, commercial structuring, and strategic program development, strong understanding of regulated and merchant power and energy markets, preferably nuclear or related regulated sectors, knowledge of electricity market design, tariff structures, generation technologies, ability to direct external legal services, strong analytical and strategic thinking, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, and knowledge of nuclear laws, regulations, and advanced reactor technologies.
