We are looking for a skilled diesel mechanic to maintain and repair company vehicles and a variety of other equipment throughout the company. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues to repair to maximize reliability and functionality. We are looking to add to our team an ASE Mechanic who is well-versed in complex mechanical and electronic systems of vehicles and equipment with excellent problem-solving abilities; with the ability to think outside the box.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/ electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
· Inspect vehicle computers and electronic systems to repair, maintain, and upgrade.
· Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.) aiming at vehicle functionality and longevity.
· Must repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix any issues (e.g. leaks).
· Must inspect, maintain, and repair other equipment in full and efficiently (trailer, welding machines, pressure washer, hydro blasters, etc.).
· Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, and pneumatic tools; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
· Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
· Controls downtime by informing staff of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
· Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
· Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders and verifying receipts.
· Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
· Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Five years of experience as a mechanic
· Five years of working on mechanical equipment
· Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles and equipment
· Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
· Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lifts)
· Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, and chemicals
· Must have own hand tools, air and scan tools
