Deputy Chief of Special Projects

Residency Requirement: Employees must be Boston residents on their date of hire and for the duration of theiremployment subject to BWSC policies and collective bargaining agreements. Overview: Position Purpose:

Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of special projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Collaborate with senior management to align projects with the organization's strategic objectives, identifying key deliverables and milestones. Orchestrate multi-faceted plans across various departments. Deliver project management, strategic planning and implementation support for key initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications: Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. Fifteen (15) years of diversified work experience in managing large-scale projects: Seven (7) years of high-level managerial/supervisory experience. Extensive experience in building construction and permitting required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:Knowledge: Superior knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations related to the construction industry, public procurement and employment. Advanced experience managing budgets, construction projects, field operations, and software systems associated with the utility industry.

Ability: Think strategically and analytically; communicate effectively and tactfully; ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans; ability to diplomatically navigate within a professional and political environment while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. Skill: Superior project management skills; excellent communication skills; advanced math, technical, and problem-solving skills; excellent customer service skills; strong organizational skills.
