The Degassing Field Technician is responsible for operating and setting up all essential vapor control equipment, specifically the maintenance and operation of our Thermal Oxidizer, and environmental monitoring devices, while adhering to operational training guidelines and safety protocols.
The field technician will complete pre-use inspections of equipment to ensure it is operating safely. Ensure that all required Operating and Safe Work Procedures are followed. Perform gas testing and assist in general maintenance and servicing of company equipment. This role will follow and uphold the safety and quality expectations held by RJ Maclean in Tank Cleaning. Promote organization’s core values and ensure tasks as communicated by Field Supervisor/Project Manager are executed inside tanks.
What Skills and Training Do You Need?
- Strong Understanding of Degassing/ Vapor Control Basics
- Mechanically Inclined.
- Pump and Hydraulics experience preferred.
- CSO
- H2S Alive
- Confined Space (CSE)
- Mask Fit and experience or capability working in confined space with breathing apparatus.
- Industrial tank cleaning experience, turnaround, and pre-commissioning services experience.
- Ability to log field data accurately
- Class 5 Driver License required
- 3+ years’ experience in safety, particularly in the oil & gas industry.- Lead by example while in the field and the shop.
- Hands-on approach to learn and build positive relationships in the company.
- Highly motivated and proactive; eagerly accepting new challenges and working under minimal supervision
- Excellent safety record with experience in oil and gas on project worksites.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- References, ability to pass Drug & Alcohol Testing

- Pay is dependent on experience, performance, and qualifications.
- Rotation schedule will vary in accordance with the particular project, however regular in/out schedule will be determined and communicated to employees in advance.
- Hours of work per day vary but are regularly 10-12 hours per day, with applicable overtime rates.
