TradeWind Services is seeking a highly qualified DCS / Software Development Engineer to support the design, implementation, and integration of digital control systems (DCS) and software solutions within the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. The successful candidate will apply expertise in software lifecycle development, digital I&C modernization, and systems validation while ensuring compliance with DOE Orders, NQA-1 standards, and mission-critical safety and security requirements.
- Lead the development, configuration, and implementation of DCS and software solutions supporting DOE nuclear facility operations and modernization projects.
- Develop detailed software specifications, configuration documents, and test procedures aligned with DOE and site-specific requirements.
- Conduct verification, validation, and system integration testing to ensure compliance with safety, security, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with DOE site stakeholders, federal counterparts, and contractor teams to integrate digital control systems into operational environments.
- Support software configuration management, cybersecurity compliance, and change control in accordance with DOE and NQA-1 requirements.
- Provide technical expertise on DOE digital I&C modernization initiatives, control system upgrades, and lifecycle management of mission-critical systems.
- Ensure alignment with applicable DOE Orders, NRC regulations, IEEE/ISA standards, and site-specific QA/QC programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, DCS configuration, or digital I&C systems, with preferred experience in DOE, NNSA, or other highly regulated nuclear facilities.- Proficiency with leading DCS platforms (e.g., Ovation, DeltaV, Foxboro, or similar) and modern software development tools.
- Strong understanding of software lifecycle processes, V&V (Verification & Validation), cybersecurity, and configuration management.
- Demonstrated experience working under DOE nuclear safety, QA, and contractor assurance requirements (NQA-1, DOE O 414.1D, DOE O 205.1C, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a multi-contractor environment.
- Experience supporting DOE digital modernization, nuclear facility upgrades, or mission-critical software integration.
- Familiarity with DOE cybersecurity frameworks and digital I&C safeguards.
- Advanced degree or professional certifications in software, controls, or systems engineering.
Expected Salary Range: $125k - $175k / year (depending on experience)
