Diablo Canyon Security Operations Department seeks to provide the finest level of security and protection for Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP).

Position Summary

This is an Service Employees Internation Union, Local 24/7, union represented classification currently subject to collective bargaining.

This position requires executing routine and emergency alarm station duties with minimal supervision and a moderate level of training, direction, and review of work from a security supervisor, and is responsible for completing security alarm system functions and tasks. Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

Applicants must also be able to work any and all shifts and holidays, including overtime, with little-to-no notice.

Applicants who move forward in the hiring process will have to travel to the San Luis Obispo area up to three times at their own expenses to interview, and if selected for the position, undergo a post offer, pre-hire physical exam, criminal background check, drug and alcohol test and psychological screening test required by the NRC.

To maintain employment, the NRC requires continued drug and alcohol tests and physical examinations.

Applicants must also meet 10 CFR 73.55 appendix B certification, which includes specific training qualifications required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the

ability to re-qualify.

Applicants must also be able to qualify as an Alarm Station Operator (ASO) and be subject to 3-year background checks in accordance with NRC standards and NRC mandated Behavior Observation Program. Applicants must be able to achieve and maintain qualifications to perform security functions, as detailed in the Security Training and Qualification Program, per the Code of Federal Regulations

10CFR73.55.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.

Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate range for this position is $48.29 to $61.66, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.​

Responsibilities

Monitoring systems and dispatch and assess alarm

Initiate response to a security threat

Process security access authorization logs ensuring proper signature authority.

Monitor Video Capture System (VCS)

Ensure the tours are conducted and monitor for delinquencies

Operate the security computer system

Generate daily histories and other documents to support shift activities

Communicate using the Plant Public Address System

Use proper radio codes

Respond to emergency conditions as appropriate

Provide liaison support

Follow DCPP site standards and procedures

Protect Security Safeguards Information

Maintain personal training, qualification, and certifications

Follow site safety standards

Qualifications

Minimum:

Must possess a High School diploma or GED

Must be at least 18 years of age

Desired:

Prior experience as a Security officer at a commercial nuclear power plant

Possess universal employee qualities (attendance, conduct, performance)

Demonstrated ability to learn and reliably perform new tasks with minimal oversight

Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively

Strong decision-making skills

Demonstrated ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual/emergency

circumstances

Demonstrated ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports

Strong verbal skills, able to convey critical information concisely and accurately via radio,

intercom, and direct voice communications

Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with other alarm security officers,

other members of the department, plant staff, and visitors

Self-motivated

Live within 50 miles of headquarters
