The Crew Lead- Finishing role is responsible for the safe operation of the homogenizing furnaces, cooling chamber, band saw, lathes and other equipment in the finishing area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management)
- Organization and housekeeping of the finishing and ingot storage areas
- Inventory of consumables & spare parts on weekly basis or as needed
- Working with Shipping Coordinator to make sure that loads are ready to be shipped and quality checked
- Enter work orders for machines that need repaired or maintenance
- Training crews and ensuring that the process is standard across every crew
- Help lead the crews in their day to day activities.
- Inspects the quality of the material during and after processes to make sure the piece is in spec per customer requirements using approved methods and SOP
- Records material dimensions using appropriate measuring instruments and following SOP
- Reports defective material and faulty equipment to the management team or Maintenance Department immediately
- Aid in scheduling work flow through area
- Completes paperwork and inputs information into the computer system, to track products through process
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Must pass minimal physical test and background screening
- Candidates must be able to work any shift (will need to specify what the shifts are)
- Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in the solving of such problems
- Judgment and decision-making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties.
- Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents.
- Ability to work with others as a team
- If driving is required to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver’s license is required
- Must satisfactorily complete the Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs
- Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules
- Promotes a safety culture and ensures compliance with safety policies and rules,
- Safety improvement –Provides for continuous reduction of workplace hazards, risks, employee accidents.
