On-site Crew Lead

We’re looking for a Bus Crew Lead

to manage field teams and guide hands-on project execution across all phases of bus installation, including demolition, rigging, layout, and welding. This role is critical in ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on-site while delivering complex projects in diverse locations such as power plants, hydroelectric facilities, and large-scale industrial sites. You’ll interpret detailed drawings, lead project execution, and uphold client and company standards at every step.

What You’ll Do

- Lead crews across all project phases—planning, layout, demolition, rigging, welding, and equipment installation

- Conduct site walks and drawing reviews; manage LOTO plans and ensure PPE and safety compliance

- Interpret complex drawings and perform precise layouts and measurements for installations

- Coordinate labor, materials, tooling, and subcontractors to ensure projects stay on schedule

- Supervise or assist in lifting, rigging, fitting, and alignment of heavy industrial components

- Oversee and inspect aluminum welding tasks; ensure 6G-quality standards are met

- Perform jobsite documentation, including daily safety checks, reports, and final signoffs

- Maintain and enforce safety protocols; proactively address issues in the field

- Operate and maintain company vehicles; represent RMS with professionalism

- Communicate with internal teams, crafts, and clients clearly and consistently

- Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas

- Mentor crew members and support the development of technical and safety skills

The Experience We’re Looking For

- 5+ years of field leadership experience in substation or bus installation

- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, PPE protocols, and jobsite safety

- Hands-on experience in weld inspection and acceptance criteria

- Skilled in industrial rigging and equipment handling in high-voltage environments

- Ability to interpret and execute complex installation plans and blueprints

- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word for field documentation

- Familiarity with MV and HV equipment and related safety standards

Additional Requirements

- Willingness to travel 75%+ for field-based work across the U.S.

- Eligible for TWIC card (required for secured job sites)

- Must pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests

- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

- Available to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed

- Able to lift 50+ lbs., crawl, climb, and perform hands-on work in the field

- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred

- Must complete annual safety training; some training may require out-of-state travel

Bonus Points For

- Experience leading bus duct installation projects or aluminum welding teams

- A TWIC card already in hand

- Background working in confined spaces or at heights (100+ ft)

- Demonstrated success managing teams in challenging environments
