Description Main Purpose:
To perform all job duties involved in operating equipment to lift/install/move materials (a pipe, plate, etc.) or structures, equipment, or materials either from one location of the yard to another, including loadouts in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions
- Complete and document all required inspections for the equipment that is operated. Any discrepancies shall be recorded and reported
- Conduct all crane operations in a safe manner
- Ensure that the equipment is used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
- Confirm all safety devices are in good working order and maintained in accordance with local requirements
- Carry out function tests prior to each use
- Pre-use inspections
- Participate in the planning, JSA and pre-lift safety meetings of all lifting operations that require utilization of the crane
- Verify communication methods with the appointed signalman prior to commencing the lifting operation
- Verify crane capacity in the given configuration, weather conditions and any other limiting factors
- Ensure that any dynamic factors have been taken into consideration and that the dynamic load charts have been checked to verify that the lift is safe to proceed
- Know the weight of the load, center of gravity and the path of load, to ensure the landing area is clear of obstructions and has suitable capacity to support the load
- Ensure that all personnel are clear of the load and that all controls are in place prior to commencing the lift
- Always operate the crane in a controlled manner with smooth and careful motions
- Ensure that all synthetic slings and wire rope slings are pre-use inspected and protected from any sharp edges and not exposed to any risk of becoming damaged during the lift
- Be knowledgeable of operational limits of rigging equipment
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

- Lifting - employees must lift to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds- 3+ years of experience operating Crawler Cranes lifting heavy loads
- Must be able to safely operate a Crawler Crane
- Must have Crane certification
- Must pass practical Crane operation test
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
- Must be able to pass a background check

Environmental Conditions
80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions; dust, mud, etc.; they may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, gas, etc.)
