We're looking for a skilled cost estimator to join our dynamic team and play a key role in helping us win and execute impactful projects.
As a cost estimator at Moran Iron Works, you'll be responsible for developing accurate, detailed, and timely quotations for project opportunities. You will collaborate closely with our sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure our bids reflect both customer requirements and our internal capabilities.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to assess new project opportunities and respond to customer inquiries.
- Analyze project scopes, technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents to prepare competitive proposals.
- Identify the need for subcontractors based on project scope, schedule, and MIW's current capacity.
- Prepare detailed bid worksheets and ensure all relevant contract information is accurately reflected in proposals.
- Communicate with clients regarding clarification of requirements or additional information needed to complete bids.
- Maintain accurate records using CRM software to track quotes, projects, and client interactions.
- Monitor the status of submitted bids and follow up on outcomes.
- For awarded bids, ensure a smooth transition of project details to internal teams for execution.
- For lost bids, analyze competitor pricing and processes to improve future estimates.
- Organize and maintain a comprehensive historical quote database.
- Use data from completed jobs to refine cost estimates for future projects.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements for estimating efficiency and accuracy.
- Two years of estimating experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience withraw material nesting software.
- Background in industrial fabrication or construction estimating.
