The Cost Analyst for Projects is responsible for performing detailed cost analysis and financial evaluations for various capital projects within the organization. This role involves analyzing budgets, performance indices, costs, workloads, service requirements, contracts, and conducting various statistical and special studies to support project management and decision-making of ongoing capital and construction projects.
Under the direction of the Supervisor or assigned Work Director, the Cost Analyst provides support to project teams by preparing routine and special reports that facilitate accounting and financial analyses of project plans, capital and expense budgets, and cost accountability. The role requires analytical ability, accuracy in handling statistical information, and careful attention to detail. The Cost Analyst is responsible for the timely completion of tasks, maintenance of records, and recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in preparing routine and special reports for project management review and approval.
- Prepare charts, graphs, and organize relevant statistics for management-requested reports, studies, analyses, and visual representations.
- Compile and prepare consolidated summaries of information used in budget preparation, cost and productivity analysis, resource utilization studies, and related management requirements.
- Identify and discuss problems with superiors as a result of assigned tasks. Suggest improvements in handling and analyzing compiled data to resolve discrepancies or reporting issues.
- Prepare Contract Action Requests, execute close-out and other related documents as required.
- Organize and maintain pertinent records and files. Initiate and/or process various forms and reports as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Associate's degree or two years college in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economic or closely related field.
- Four (4) years' diversified experience in accounting, budgets, and/or financial analysis work.
- Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
- Must have ability to perform statistical and problem analyses while working under time constraints. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
