Purpose of Role:Lead the operational costing function for Weir / Townley’s Florida operations, taking full responsibility for cost accounting, inventory valuation, and reporting operational performance. This role will focus on deploying a robust standard costing methodology across inventory processes in line with the companies standard costing policy, supporting multiple manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Costing, Policy, and Reporting- Maintain and enforce divisional cost accounting principles and policies, including training operational teams to ensure full understanding and compliance.- Review, report, and analyze operational performance across multiple manufacturing sites, with regular interaction with operations leaders to drive performance improvements.- Lead the cost roll process across the business, validating increases/decreases and ensuring alignment with standard cost updates.- Support development of standard operational KPI reports.- Develop early warning systems, gap analysis, and countermeasure recommendations for various operational financial KPIs.Standard Costing Methodology Deployment- Design and implement a standard costing framework for inventory, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, tailored to the needs of multiple manufacturing operations.- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to define cost drivers and establish accurate cost standards.- Monitor and analyze variances between standard and actual costs, providing actionable insights to reduce inefficiencies.- Ensure standard costs are updated in line with policy twice a year to reflect changes in production processes, material costs, and labor rates.

Strategic Operational Initiatives and Planning- Lead finance operations input into the annual budget and quarterly forecasting cycle – including assumptions on costs, recoveries, and variances.- Drive inventory financial analytics and work with Supply Chain leaders to improve processes and reduce working capital.- Provide proactive, reliable, and credible financial advice on a broad range of operational issues to key business partners.- Develop and implement capital expenditure business cases to support investment decisions and priorities.- Lead ad-hoc operational finance projects as they arise.

Continuous Improvement- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operations, identifying opportunities to streamline costing processes and enhance data accuracy.- Use financial analytics to support lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and process optimization efforts.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive sustainable improvements in cost control and inventory management.Team Collaboration Expectations- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance teams to ensure alignment on cost strategies and inventory management.- Actively participate in team meetings, workshops, and improvement initiatives, contributing financial insights and recommendations.- Serve as a key liaison between finance and operational teams, translating financial data into actionable operational strategies.- Promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across departments.- Support and mentor junior finance team members, encouraging knowledge sharing and professional development.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).- 5+ years post-graduate experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.- Proven experience deploying and managing standard costing systems across multiple operations.- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial reports, accounting standards, and regulatory requirement/s.- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).- Investigative mindset with strong problem-solving skills.- Ability to meet demanding deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
