Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Purchasing and Materials Manager (Corporate) to oversee and centralize purchasing activities across our multi-site manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for managing procurement of consumable goods and services, negotiating and overseeing maintenance contracts, controlling purchase orders, and ensuring accurate separation of capital expenditures (CAPEX) from operational expenses. The position reports directly to the executive team with regular cost and performance updates.
Although this is an individual contributor role, the Purchasing and Materials Manager will influence processes, drive efficiency, and manage approvals impacting multiple departments and facilities.
This position is onsite at the Company's HQ office.
- Centralize and manage purchasing for consumable goods and services across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Negotiate, oversee, and renew maintenance contracts to ensure optimal service levels and cost control.
- Review, issue, and control purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate accounting for CAPEX vs. operational expenses.
- Prepare and present cost reports and purchasing metrics to the executive team.
- Develop and refine purchasing processes to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and site leadership to ensure procurement supports production needs.
- Utilize MS Dynamics NAV ERP and advanced MS Excel skills for purchasing management, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Drive and achieve cost-savings KPI’s through economies of scale and efficiencies, and applying the business forecast to materials management.
- Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience. Required to have been in a purchasing role for a heavy industry manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in the Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG), or other steel production, industry strongly preferred.
- Preferred education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field. MBA a plus.
- Strong contract negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency with MS Dynamics NAV or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple locations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Driver’s license and ability to travel up to 10% to visit facilities within 250 mile range.
