Overview
Coordinator: Under general supervision, responsible for moderately complex NERC & FERC Compliance activities, including coordinating the interpretation, execution, documentation and reporting of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Reliability First (RF) and other federal energy regulatory requirements as they relate to PPL Electric Utilities. Works with regular guidance in own area of knowledge.
Specialist:Under general direction, responsible for more complex NERC & FERC Compliance activities. Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and the PPL EU Reliability Program. This job is a senior-skill level with or without formal supervisory responsibility. Provides expert business leadership in the guidance and direction to other PPL employees to support production of high quality, timely and cost-effective interpretation, execution, documentation and reporting of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Reliability First (RF) Reliability Standards as they relate to PPL Electric Utilities (EU). Provides leadership to develop and request changes to NERC standards and PJM Assigned Tasks for NERC Reliability Standards. Recommends to EU executive management annual certification of compliance or non-compliance to these standards.
Responsibilities
Coordinator:
•Acts as a clearinghouse for EU departments to identify reliability standards and metrics that to EU based on its registration with NERC, RF and PJM and as required by other assigned federal energy regulatory requirements.
•Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with major EU departments and effectively facilitates documentation for the NERC Reliability Program.
•Clearly communicates technical and complex topics orally and in writing to define issues and needs.
•Participates with the NERC & FERC Compliance group and subject matter experts to develop best practices, assess internal controls, assess adherence, identify gaps and track corrective actions for the NERC Reliability Program and to verify the integrity, accuracy and completeness of periodic departmental reports and certifications.
•Coordinates and facilitates comments and revisions to NERC and RF reliability standards, compliance requirements and measures. Performs specialized reliability standards and compliance analyses.
•Participates in the design, testing and implementation of revised NERC Reliability Standard processes, procedures, and tools for self-certifications, spot checks and audits by NERC, RF and PJM.
•Performs EU staff training on reliability standard requirements and measures, processes, procedures and tools.
•Interfaces with PPL Services (Corporate Security, IT, HR, etc.) for support or issues requiring coordination with service organizations for the EU NERC Reliability program.
•Coordinates with PPL Affiliates on NERC Reliability Standards Development process to understand PPL Corporation impact.
•May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
•The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Specialist:
•Provides leadership to evaluate, analyze, and prepare positions on more complex issues regarding application of and revisions to NERC Reliability Standards and to assure efficient sustainable NERC Reliability program. Leads EU committee to develop and request changes to NERC Reliability Standards, and to coordinate and facilitate comments and ballot positions to interpretations and revisions of the standards. Perform specialized NERC & FERC Compliance activities and compliance analyses.
•Clearly communicates technical and complex topics orally and in writing with management to define issues and needs. Serves as the point person with EU management to contest, rectify and respond to gaps in compliance reporting and to verify the integrity, accuracy and completeness of periodic departmental reports.
•Represents EU on outside company committees responsible for activities related to NERC, RF and PJM reliability standard compliance. During such activities, maintains compliance with FERC Order 889 Code of Conduct.
•Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with major EU departments and PPL Services (e.g. Corporate Security, HR) to ensure ongoing adherence to NERC, RF and PJM Reliability Standards. Works with applicable Service Company and EU departments to develop best practices, assess internal controls, assess adherence to, identify gaps and corrective actions for the EU NERC Reliability Program. Understands compliance issues from market subsidiaries that have possible ramifications to EU.
•Leads and facilitates all EU Reliability Standards Committee meetings. Assures recording of meeting notes, assigns action items, and performs periodic follow-up as needed.
•Participates in the design, testing and implementation of revised NERC Reliability Standards programs and development of enhanced internal procedures and processes, including coordination with PPL Affiliates on NERC Reliability Standards Under Development.
•Acts as the interface with PPL Services (Corporate Security, IT, HR, etc.) to understand all EU compliance issues requiring coordination with service organizations.
•Increases and applies knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards Requirements. Provides guidance, functional advice and acts as a resource to less-experienced staff members and subject matter experts. Performs subordinate staff and EU subject matter expert staff training on Requirements and measures, processes, procedures and tools.

Qualifications
Coordinator:
1. Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of compliance experiece

Specialist:
1. Bachelor's degree
2. 4+ years or more years of experience in a compliance or audit focused position.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Technical or business-related field preferred.
•Electric utility background preferred. Strong background in power system operation, engineering, planning, compliance, IT, and/or engineering preferred.
•Demonstrated ability to understand, audit, or NERC Requirements to business unit processes. Knowledge of other regulatory environment/cultures may be considered.
•Certification in Engineering, Auditing, IT, or GRC (e.g. Professional Engineer License, CISSP, CISA, CGET).
•Familiarity with industry trends and best practices.
•Understanding of EU issues and priorities.
•Proven customer focus with the ability to understand business needs.
