Indiana Wheel Company is seeking a talented and motivated Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing various control systems to ensure smooth operation of the manufacturing equipment. Collaborate with the maintenance team to better maintain and optimize PLC’s and robotic systems.
- Control System Maintenance & Integration: Maintain, improve, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and robotics
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide on-site troubleshooting for control system issues, work closely with maintenance and production teams to resolve electrical and software-related problems
- Program PLCs: Write, modify, and optimize PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) for manufacturing processes
- System Optimization: Identify opportunities for system improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and safety. Propose and implement upgrades or modifications to existing systems
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality, and project managers, to meet plant goals and objectives
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, control system manuals, and operational procedures
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies in all engineering solutions
- Training & Support: Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on control system functions and troubleshooting
- Project Management: Manage control system-related projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in control systems design and troubleshooting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Robot programming (ABB, Kawasaki, or equivalent)
- Experience with SCADA, HMI, and industrial control systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, instrumentation, and control devices
- Familiarity with safety protocols, including NFPA 70E, OSHA, and electrical standards
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve complex control system issues
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D Modeling, Microsoft Office, and control system programming tools
- Experience with robotics integration or automated manufacturing systems
- Knowledge of motion control and servo systems
- Familiarity with control system simulation and testing tools
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
