We’re looking for a Control Wireman who’s ready to support the functionality and safety of high-voltage substations. You’ll perform hands-on wiring and testing, read electrical schematics, and install and maintain control systems with precision and accuracy. - Install, maintain, and repair control wiring and high-voltage substation equipment
- Interpret complex blueprints and schematics to complete control layouts and terminations
- Cut, route, and terminate wiring using precision tools to ensure safe and functional installations
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and associated control panels
- Use test equipment (e.g., multimeters, meggers) to verify continuity, proper connections, and performance
- Inspect installed systems to identify defects, hazards, or operational issues
- Train and guide less experienced technicians on safety protocols and wiring best practices
- Respond to emergency repair needs to restore power or correct hazardous conditions
- Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas- 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical wiring or related substation work
- Working knowledge of control systems, circuitry, and wiring practices
- Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Willingness to travel frequently (minimum 75%) with overnight stays
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs., climb, crawl, kneel, and stand for extended periods- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments
- Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certification is strongly preferred
- Holds a TWIC card
- Prior experience working in substations or transmission projects
- Familiarity with utility-grade control systems and wiring codes
- Experience with OSHA safety standards and confined space procedures
- Intermediate or advanced troubleshooting skills using electrical testing equipment
- Prior experience in training or mentoring new technicians
