Essential Functions.
Develop process automation solutions for capital projects that include programming SCADA, DCS,
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and Human Machine Interface (HMI); Assist in startup for capital
projects; Analyze and resolve problems due to process and control system anomalies; Provide onsite field and
remote phone support for automated systems by troubleshooting hardware and software problems; Support
remote based monitoring of SCADA and DCS to generate monthly reports, activate/deactivate sites, monitor
systems and resolve any issues; Assist onsite and field service personnel troubleshoot issues in control panel
wiring and instrumentation application. Coordinate with systems vendors for system maintenance, repair,
upgrade hardware or software, etc.; Develop and analyze predictive/trend reports and performance reports to
ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; Document system changes; Develop and/or organize
technical training for Operations staff on control systems applications.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Occasionally serves as lead for one or more employees; performs other duties as assigned.
- After-Hours Work: This position requires availability to work after regular business hours (evenings, nights, weekends) as needed for implementing system changes, updates, and maintenance activities. These activities are crucial for minimizing disruption to business operations and ensuring system stability.
- On-Call Duty: The employee will participate in a rotational on-call schedule to provide technical support outside of regular business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Response Requirements: While on-call, the employee must be available to respond promptly to urgent issues, critical situations, and system alerts. This requires the ability to be contacted within a specified timeframe and initiate problem resolution as quickly as possible.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Response: On-call duties involve identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems, including system failures, security incidents, and application bugs.
Compensation: Compensation for on-call hours and after-hours work will be provided in accordance with Civil Service requirements and company policies. This includes any applicable overtime pay for non-exempt employees.QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience:
30 college credit hours in Computer Science or a related field AND five (5) years of related experience such as
instrumentation and process control that includes programming, SCADA, DCS and PLC applications.
Desirable Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Considerable skill in analyzing complex programming problems, control strategies, and process &
instrumentation diagrams; demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control aspects of
treatment plant and pump station automation, monitoring systems, drivers, integration of devices used;
considerable skill with radio and cellular communications; considerable skill in providing guidance to software
users; considerable skill in developing and generating automated reports; some skill in Operational
Technology (OT) Cybersecurity and Process Control Networks, some knowledge of laboratory operations;
ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal customers and external
representatives; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in oral and written form.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
