Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in automotive repair and experience with large fleet of Diesel trucks, and cranes. This mechanic is responsible for ensuring all vehicles are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with DOT regulations. This role requires an organized, detail-oriented professional with expertise in diesel mechanics, diagnostics, brakes, air systems, and electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Performs scheduled PM maintenance on diesel trucks and tractors, ensuring all components are in optimal working condition to prevent unexpected breakdowns
•Conducts regular Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections on all vehicles, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
•Inspects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems in vehicles to identify necessary repairs and maintenance
•Keeps the workspace clean, organized, and safe by following shop procedures and handling hazardous materials properly
•Tracks and orders necessary parts, ensuring the workshop has the supplies needed to complete repairs on time
•Evaluates driver pre- and post-trip walk-around inspections, addressing reported issues and documenting actions taken
•Travels to construction sites to perform on-site diagnostics and repairs as needed to minimize equipment downtime
•Keeps up with advancements in construction equipment technology and repair techniques to ensure high-quality, efficient repairs
•Connects with site supervisors, operators, and other team members to understand equipment issues and ensure timely, accurate repairs
•Performs other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED; technical training in diesel mechanics preferred
•Knowledge of DOT regulations, brake and air systems, electrical systems, and diesel engine diagnostics
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
•At least three (3) years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with tri-axle trucks and heavy haul tractors
