The Construction Design Assistant assists the Sales Force by providing customer service to new and existing customers and assist in preparing estimates and quotes for construction projects. Coordinates management of construction projects across departments, working with Customer Service, Materials Management, Warehouse Operations, and Accounting Staff to ensure that the entire distribution value chain delivers excellent service throughout the project life cycle.
Job Duties:
•Prepares major quotes and/or construction take-offs
•Develops and maintains construction equipment package templates
•Maintains ongoing customer and/or contractor communications and coordinates logistics in various projects and assignments; answers customer inquiries and resolves customer complaints
•Prepares construction information materials, including the planned equipment needed and timeframe for delivery on-site
•Follow up on customer and/or contractor shipments for each construction order
•Provides ongoing updates and maintains interaction with salespeople to prevent or correct problems on projects or accounts
•Takes order requests from customers via phone, email or in person; ensures product availability and enters order information.
•Maintains product knowledge and stays current on vendor promo pricing
•Works with customers and AR on a daily/weekly basis when processing deposits and additional customer payments
Requirements:
•Highschool Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
•Ability to read and interpret construction documents and prepare take-offs and quotes
•Ability to quickly learn key products, services, systems and procedures
•Excellent communication skills to convey information effectively, give full attention to what others say, understand relevant points, and ask questions as appropriate
•Skills in resolving conflicts and negotiating with others
•Ability to work well with customers, supervisors, and other employees by phone, email, or in person
•Ability to handle multiple projects, assignments and accounts
•Ability to communicate effectively in writing
•Familiarity with construction documents, and demonstrate understanding of the estimating process
•Excellent customer service skills
•High attention to detail and solid organizational skills
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite, and AutoDesk software
•Must be able to meet company’s employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR, if driving for the company
•Physical Requirements: include occasional lifting/carrying of 10 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, and kneeling to perform the essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
