Primary Purpose
As an integral member of our Carbon Sequestration Team, you will serve a critical function by ensuring that our carbon capture initiatives adhere to all regulatory requirements. Your strong background in geology and environmental regulations will be essential for steering through complex permitting challenges and for the development of rigorous monitoring programs.
Regulatory Oversight
•Develop and nurture productive relationships with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies to guarantee compliance with all applicable standards.
•Supervise external consultants responsible for preparing regulatory submissions and conducting field investigations.
•Collaborate with the Well Delivery Team to compile and submit operational reports throughout the project lifecycle.
•Contribute to the creation, execution, and management of comprehensive compliance monitoring programs, covering aspects such as groundwater, vegetation, seismicity, soil gas, corrosion, and atmosphere.
Technical Leadership
•Apply your interdisciplinary expertise—including geology, petrophysics, reservoir simulation, drilling practices, and operational insights—to aid in the formulation and approval of permits.
•Draft and deliver thorough regulatory documentation, including Class VI permit applications, sundry notices, and drilling permits.
•Analyze and interpret regulatory processes and policies to highlight potential compliance challenges and opportunities.
Collaboration And Communication
•Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including engineers, geoscientists, and project managers, to ensure cohesive project execution.
•Provide clear explanations and interpretations of federal, state, and regional regulatory requirements to internal stakeholders.
•Maintain effective communication with regulatory agencies, project partners, and team members at all levels.
•Uphold a high standard of professionalism, transparency, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
Minimum Requirements
•A valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company and insurer criteria (travel is required).
•A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience/Specific Knowledge
•A minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental compliance, ideally within the oil and gas or carbon capture industries.
•Comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations specific to carbon sequestration and subsurface injection.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Proficient with relevant software, such as GIS and geologic programs.
•Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
•Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
•Familiarity with technologies used in monitoring Class VI wells.
•In-depth proficiency with Microsoft Office, AdobePro, Petrel, and ArcGIS.
•Experience with aqueous geochemistry modeling using tools like PHREEQC is preferred.
•Familiarity with environmental justice regulations and prior experience engaging with diverse stakeholders is advantageous.

Working Conditions
•Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
•May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
