SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Commodity Manager identifies and executes natural gas related transactions to procure natural gas to meet SaskEnergy’s requirements, as well as generate incremental profit for the corporation through the optimization of new and existing storage and transportation assets. This includes marketing, managing purchase/sales agreements, and the purchase/sale of natural gas for the corporation and its subsidiaries.
Position Details
•Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
•Identify, initiate and execute commodity related opportunities to generate profits and transportation cost savings through the optimization of existing storage and transportation, directly impacting SaskEnergy’s net income and rates.
•Develop trading strategies for risk mitigation and revenue generation.
•Negotiate and administer gas purchase and sales agreements.
•Analyze supply, storage and transportation requirements for industrial customers.
•Maintain up-to-date market intelligence and industry relationships by identifying and initiating opportunities to increase customer base and profitability.
•Provide subject matter expertise throughout the Corporation, ensuring commodity price risk management activities comply with controls, polices and procedures and support corporate commodity strategies, initiatives and projects that require commodity forecasts and energy market intelligence.
•Lead continuous process improvements by providing specialized commodity market expertise and support for corporate commodity strategies and other corporate initiatives and projects that require commodity forecasts and energy market intelligence.
•Initiate, coordinate and lead meetings with gas suppliers and industrial customers to discuss business opportunities, negotiate contracts and acquire market intelligence.
•Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
•Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or Engineering.
•Ten (10) years of experience in the natural gas industry, preferably related to trading, transportation, or pipeline nominations.
•Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and timely delivery, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
•Relationship building skills including displaying a high degree of respect, awareness, diplomacy and tact in interactions with others.
•Problem-solver with strong negotiating and analytical skills.
•Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
•Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
•A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
