Key Project Requirements:
•Experience with Mitsubishi 501J or 501JAC turbines preferred
•Will also consider candidates with Advanced-Class gas turbine commissioning experience, including:
o Mitsubishi: M501G or M701J
o GE: 7FA, 7FB, 7HA.01, 7HA.02, LMS100
•GE LM6000 experience is a plus when combined with Advanced-Class turbine experience
•15+ years commissioning experience combined with business acumen expected to interface with EPC, owner, and vendors.
Job Summary:
NAES has an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning Manager supporting a state-of-the-art coal plant conversion project in Utah. This role will provide commissioning oversight of Mitsubishi 501JAC turbines as part of the site's transformation. Reporting to the Site Lead, the Commissioning Manager will oversee commissioning activities, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and act as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with deep technical knowledge of advanced-class gas turbines and a proven ability to drive safe, efficient commercial operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Lead and inspire contract partners and site personnel to uphold safety, quality, and commissioning standards aligned with project goals
•Coordinate schedules and interfaces across multiple projects and third-party stakeholders
•Monitor EPC contractor activities to ensure compliance with the CPM schedule and contract requirements; report on progress and performance
•Act as the primary interface between site personnel and client/home office engineering teams
•Resolve safety and quality issues in collaboration with safety, engineering, and QA/QC leads
•Foster a collaborative team environment across all commissioning tasks and project disciplines
•Administer startup-related subcontractor responsibilities
•Ensure commissioning efforts support long-term goals for maintainability, operability, and sustainability
Job Requirements:
•Ability to identify and escalate performance issues of the EPC scope and communicate their impact on the Program’s objectives.
•Proficient in monitoring and controlling project costs as well as building reports to communicate effectively with all project teams.
•Adept with analyzing project schedules and assessing performance and progress based on resource loading.
•Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
•Excellent communication, both written and verbal, to include interpersonal skills that involve engagement and collaboration with all project stakeholders.
•Ability to work well under pressure as well as meet project deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk/stand for extended periods, bend, and climb ladders as required
Education / Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
•15+ years of experience in project management or project controls related to commissioning, with a track record of successful project delivery.
•Proficient in project management software and tools, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel
