Job Description:
The Senior Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading the commissioning process across all projects, ensuring that building systems are designed, installed, tested, and maintained to perform in accordance with the owner's operational requirements. This role will manage a team of commissioning professionals, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and develop strategies to improve commissioning practices and quality assurance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead and oversee all commissioning activities for new and existing projects across the organization.
•Develop and implement company-wide commissioning policies, standards, and procedures.
•Develop and oversee the full commissioning process, from design through occupancy and post-occupancy evaluation.
•Manage and lead a multidisciplinary commissioning team, including internal staff and external consultants.
•Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and sustainability guidelines (e.g., LEED, ASHRAE, ISO).
•Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and facility operators to integrate commissioning activities into project workflows.
•Oversee functional performance testing of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, controls, and specialty systems.
•Review design documents and submittals to identify commissioning requirements and influence quality outcomes.
•Develop commissioning plans, checklists, test scripts, and final reports for project documentation.
•Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure commissioning milestones are met on time and within budget.
•Identify and resolve system performance issues prior to building turnover.
•Lead training sessions for facilities staff on system operations and maintenance.
•Track and report on commissioning progress, budgets, and resource allocation.
•Lead and manage Measurement and Verification (M&V) activities to validate energy performance, optimize building systems, and ensure alignment with energy goals and design intent. Incorporate M&V activities into Cx Plans and communicate requirements to facilities staff prior to building turnover.
•Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and stakeholders.
•Continuously improve commissioning processes and implement best practices across all projects.
•Develop and implement training programs for junior commissioning engineers, including hands-on learning, technical on-boarding, mentorship, and professional development planning.
•Promote a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning within the commissioning team.
Education and Experience Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Engineering, or a related field
•Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, building systems commissioning, and/or facilities management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
•Certifications Preferred: PE, CCP, CBCP, BCxP, CxA, LEED AP with specialty, PMP
•Experience with energy modeling and M&V frameworks such as IPMVP
•Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
•Stay current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and compliance standards (ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA, etc.)
•Proven ability to manage large-scale and complex commissioning projects.
•Experience with Data Center/Mission Critical Commissioning and Hospital Commissioning a plus.
•Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
•Ability to travel to project sites as needed

Pay: $110,000 – $130,000 per year
