Overview
Under general supervision, performs various tasks associated with the operation and maintenance, and repair of sewer collection system components, roadways, and sidewalks. Will be assigned to specific duties according to company needs/or employee knowledge and abilities.
- Performs various tasks associated with the installation, maintenance and/or repair of collection system components, roadways and sidewalks.
- Assists in the installation, maintenance, cleaning, repair and/or replacement of collection system components such as manholes, gravity lines, force mains, and lift stations, including all fittings, valves, reducers etc.
- Performs the maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, and curb sections, excavated areas, etc.
- Assist in the testing of new gravity lines by low-pressure testing and testing of new and existing manholes by vacuum testing.
- Performs collection system rehabilitation on manholes, pipelines, etc., to minimize infiltration and inflow within the system.
- Loads and unloads materials for transport to and from the technical services facility (TSF) and job sites.
- Relocates traffic plates and other material/equipment to and from the TSF and job site as required.
- Controls traffic at job site as needed.
- Performs backfilling, grading, and excavation as necessary.
- Assist in digging holes and trenches as needed.
- Observes collection system components for leaks and other problems.
- Assists in troubleshooting and in identifying potential infiltration and inflow problems by CCTV, smoke testing, flow monitoring, dye testing, and taking weir measurements.
- Performs brick, concrete and mortar work associated with projects including repairing manholes and other structures.
- May perform carpentry and painting work for projects including constructing slabs, walls, restraint system, reinforcing bar, etc., as needed.
- Assists in the installation / operation of lift stations.
- Assists with ground maintenance duties, including mowing grass, cutting/controlling weeds, applying pesticides, etc.
- Operates and maintains various types of equipment and tools.
- Maintains assigned equipment and machinery in safe and proper working condition.
- Communicates with supervisors, team leader, and customers regarding maintenance/installation of new and existing sewer system components.
- Observes prescribed safety rules in the performance of activities and uses safety equipment as required.
- Perform duties and responsibilities as necessary on an on-call basis after the normal shift has ended.
