Position Overview:
We are seeking a professional Class 1 Truck Driver with Lowbed experience to join our team in Prince George. The successful candidate will be working both independently and as part of our team to safely transport equipment and material between work sites and quarries.
Role and Responsibilities
•Safely transport various types of heavy equipment as far north as Yukon;
•Operate heavy equipment when required to do so (loading / offloading)
•Perform daily routine inspection checks on truck and trailers to ensure they are in good working condition and report any issues to shop mechanic based on level of severity;
•Perform pre-trip, enroute and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, and brakes;
•Fuel up truck & check vehicle fluid levels daily. Ensure the cab is cleaned out before next driver gets in (product is provided);
•Follow all safety protocols according to customer requirements and traffic laws while driving;
•Must be compliant with provincial E-Log requirements and keep accurate records of equipment moves and hours;
•Bulk salt haul in the winter;
•Hauling gravel products in town from quarries;
•Ability to work in a variety of weather, temperature, and road conditions;
•Willingness to work weekends, out of town for extended periods and extensive hours in challenging weather and site conditions;
•Ensure that all customers, co-workers, and the public are dealt with professionalism and courtesy.
Experience & Technical Competency
•Minimum 5 years related experience;
•Low bedding experience preferred;
•Valid Class 1 driver’s license with a clean commercial driver’s abstract;
•Must be familiar with heavy equipment loaders etc.;
•Must be located within commuting distance of Prince George, BC and have reliable transportation to get to work.

Union Membership: You will be required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.

Work Location: Typically about 85% is based in the PG & surrounding area and about 15% travel out of town will be required.
