Scotia Recycling Limited (SRL), a member of the Scotia Investments Limited (SIL) family of companies, is an operator of Atlantic Canada’s leading recycling facilities located in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. With an approximate workforce of 200 dedicated employees, we specialize in the collection, processing, sales, and brokerage of recyclable materials, and are a proven industry leader that have been in operation since 1976.
We are seeking a full-time, permanent Class 1 Driver to operate a tractor trailer equipped with an onboard compact forklift and liftgate. This position can be based out of Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. This is a Monday to Friday position involves picking up baled goods from customers across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island and getting you home at the end of your work day.
While the role is not physically strenuous, it does require frequent entry and exit from the truck during pickups. Candidates should be comfortable operating a forklift and working independently, including in all weather conditions. Pickups occur at a variety of customer sites, including loading docks and ground-level areas such as parking lots, requiring safe and efficient forklift operation in diverse environments.
- Operate a tractor trailer with onboard forklift and liftgate in a safe, efficient manner.
- Pick up baled freight from customer locations, including both dock-height and ground-level areas
- Use the onboard forklift to handle freight safely and securely.
- Accurately maintain electronic logs to ensure compliance with hours of service regulations.
- Preforming pre/post trip inspections of equipment.
- Must possess strong customer service skills and be safety conscious.
- Class 1 Drivers License with air brakes.
- Satisfactory drivers abstract, criminal background check and employment reference checks.
- Fork-lift experience and/or certification.
- Ability to work in hot and cold weather.
- Ability to work as part of a team to maintain efficient route coverage and support operational needs.
- Comfortable using computers, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Possesses good hand/eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
