About The Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (I E I) New York Office is looking for a Civil Engineer II to join our Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. The Civil Engineer II role will support the Design Team and perform professional engineering work, including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.
The primary responsibility of the Civil Engineer II is to manage project engineering and document control from the site field office, concentrating on the schedule, budget updates, correspondence logs, and requests for information. The purpose of these programs is to communicate career opportunities and promote workforce diversity within the Agency. Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities:
• Prepares design computations, plans and related construction documents.
• Prepares reports, specifications, studies, and permits.
• Analyzes and interpr ets variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
• Assists in analyzing and interpreting engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Prepares quantity calculations and cost estimates.
• Prepares engineering and design documents using computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
• Performs construction observation and prepares appropriate documentation.
• Organizes and maintains project files and documentation.
• Assists in preparation and presentation of technical information to colleagues and clients.
• Assists Project, Design and/or Office Managers as requested.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering required
• At least 3 - 6 years of relevant experience required; and EIT required
• Master’s degree in civil engineering preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Working Conditions
• IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with an acceptable driver's record.
• Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
• Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
• Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
• Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
• Usually works in outside weather conditions.
