This position is an entry-level On-the-Job Training Program position to require full utilization of all available training and skill-improvement opportunities to assure the increased participation of minority groups, disadvantaged persons and women in all phases of the highway/bridge construction industry. The intent of the On-the-Job Training Program is to recruit entry-level individuals, when feasible, and provide them with meaningful training needed to lead to journey-level employment.
Trainees perform a variety of civil construction tasks such as digging with hand tools, lifting and carrying building materials, installing underground utilities, carrying and setting forms used to place concrete, placing concrete for curbs, sidewalks, approaches, and operating heavy equipment. Other duties as assigned may be using surveying equipment, grading, and work zone traffic control tasks such as flagging traffic, etc.
