Summary:
A leading construction company committed to delivering quality projects with a focus on safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Chief Operations Officer (COO) to oversee all construction operations of the company.
The COO will be a strategic leader responsible for developing and optimizing internal systems, ensuring project management excellence, driving profitability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires a deep understanding of construction methods, the construction industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex operations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Planning:
•Collaborate with the CEO and other executive team members to develop and implement the company's strategic plan and operational goals.
•Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans and initiatives.
•Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for operational improvement and competitive advantage.
•Participate in key decision-making processes affecting the overall direction of the company.
Operational Excellence:
•Oversee all construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
•Develop and implement efficient and effective operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
•Optimize resource allocation (personnel, equipment, materials) to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
•Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
•Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
Project Management Oversight:
•Provide strategic guidance and support to project management teams.
•Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and challenges, and implement mitigation strategies.
•Ensure effective communication and collaboration among project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
•Review and approve project budgets, schedules, and change orders.
•Attend weekly project meetings and ensure agenda are built for success with safety, schedules, budgets, requests for information, submittals, change order requests, pay applications, and other items are addressed.
Supply Chain Management:
•Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
•Oversee the procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
•Negotiate contracts and agreements to optimize value and minimize risk.
•Implement strategies to manage inventory and logistics effectively.
Technology and Innovation:
•Evaluate and implement new technologies and software solutions to improve operational efficiency and project delivery.
•Drive innovation in construction processes and methodologies.
•Ensure the effective utilization of project management software and other relevant technology platforms.
Team Leadership and Development:
•Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams, including project managers, superintendents, and other key personnel.
•Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
•Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
•Identify training and development needs and implement programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
Financial Performance:
•Work closely with the accounting team to develop and manage operational budgets.
•Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
•Analyze financial reports and operational data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
•Contribute to the overall profitability and financial health of the company.
Risk Management and Compliance:
•Identify and assess operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
•Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
•Oversee safety programs and initiatives to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
•Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in the construction industry, with a significant portion in senior management roles.
•Proven track record of successfully managing complex construction projects and leading operational teams.
•Deep understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and best practices.
•Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
•Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
•Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
•Proficiency in project management software and other relevant technology.
•Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards in the construction industry.

•Managerial experience on medium and large commercial construction projects.
