Yampa Valley Electric Association is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead our financial operations and serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors.
The Role: As CFO, you'll oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and regulatory compliance. You'll translate financial data into clear insights that inform decision-making across the organization. This role requires both technical financial expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, and member experience teams.

- Proven track record leading finance teams, developing financial talent, and driving organizational results
- Deep expertise in GAAP accounting standards and financial statement preparation
- Strong knowledge of RUS accounting and reporting requirements
- Experience with utility accounting, rate design, and cost-of-service studies
- Demonstrated success managing capital planning, treasury operations, and debt financing
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
- Experience presenting to boards of directors and providing strategic counsel to executive leadership
- Electric utility experience strongly preferred; cooperative experience a significant plus
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required (MBA or advanced degree advantageous). Equivalent experience at a senior level will be considered.
- Experience with NISC financial systems or similar utility billing/accounting platforms preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
- Lead financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with RUS and and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee accounting operations and internal controls.
- Provide financial guidance to the Board of Directors.
- Manage relationships with lenders, auditors, and financial partners.
- Support rate design and cost-of-service studies.
- Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial forecasting.
