Responsible for the performance of routine chemical analyses and testing. Assist in performing more complex activities with instruction and monitoring by more senior personnel such as troubleshooting, problem solving, and data collection. Follow established procedures requiring the application of fundamental scientific knowledge and skills in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Monitor boiler water quality by use of standardized tests, operate and monitor plant sewage treatment plant (plant specific), operate and monitor plant water treatment facility, operate and monitor cooling tower chemistry (plant specific), monitor drinking water (plant specific), monitor scrubber chemistry (plant specific). Conduct sampling and perform tasks associated with federal and state laws associated with water and wastewater. Understand and follow site specific permits and obtain state licensing as required. Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Residency Requirement: Successful candidate must reside within 1 hour of miles of Lieberman Plant
Education requirements are listed below: High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in science or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below: No experience required. Possess basic computer skills.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Possess valid state driver's license.
Must be willing to work rotating shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Minimum long distance travel required but the inspection of remote equipment is a daily requirement for this position.
Must respond to callouts in both outage and non-outage work to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules.
Must be able to learn and comply with all applicable plant operating instructions and procedures.
Must be able to learn and comply with the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work environment and report unsafe conditions and practices.
Must learn and have a working knowledge of Safety and Environmental guidelines.
Must be able to learn and properly use the tools and equipment and their use as required in the work.
Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints and specifications.
To communicate effectively, both verbally and written, are required for this position.
Demonstrate professional conduct and effective interactions with employees, contractors and others.
Must be willing and able to work inside designated confined space entry areas, elevated areas and in hot and cold temperatures.
Must be able to wear respirator when required.
Train for fire fighting, first aid, AED and other emergency response programs as required.
Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities for next line of progression is required.
