The Doe Run Company is seeking a Chemical Technician to Prepare, analyze, and report quality data results on production, exploration, R&D, and environmental samples to support operational, customer, and regulatory standards. This position is at the Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in chemistry or related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience utilizing lab equipment, as a chemist or chemical technician preferred.
- Lab equipment experience with basic understanding of sample prep and analysis procedures preferred.
- Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Databases, I-Series, and PeopleSoft.
- Basic knowledge of quality control standards.
- Basic organizational skills
- Prepare, analyze, and report results for samples collected from production, exploration, R&D, and environmental following established methods and quality standards.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain lab instrumentation in accordance with standard procedures and manufacturer recommendations; recognize and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Ensure data meets accuracy and quality requirements, maintaining proper documentation and data integrity for all assigned sample streams.
- Record and maintain accurate analytical data and assay results in accordance with laboratory standards to support overall operational and leadership objectives.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Frequently required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator, hearing protection, foot protection, and eyewear, and work near moving, mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to extreme heat/cold(non-weather), wet, humid (non-weather), and outdoor conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Regularly requires standing, walking, reaching with hands/arms, and repetitive movement; occasionally requires grasping and pushing, feeling attributes of objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. Requires clarity of vision 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Regularly required to lift up to 15 pounds; frequently required to lift up to 40 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds; Rarely required to lift up to 100 pounds.
