Our growing company is looking for an experienced and motivated Chemical Process Engineer to join our team at Geomega. The ideal candidate will have around 5 years experience in process engineering, detail oriented, is looking for an opportunity that has a wide spectrum of engineering activities (detailed engineering, plant construction, optimization, operation, R&D and more) and a desire for growth and development.

Brief description
The selected person will work with the Chief Technology Officer and the engineering team on all engineering related activities of the company. The employee will be working on multiple projects with various departments and disciplines, needs to be able to multitask and work in a team.
The selected person will participate in the following activities with the engineering team:
- Project definition, development of process engineering plan, the necessary resources and the establishment of priorities for the project.
- Design, fabrication, and assembling industry-relevant equipment, pilot plant units that require engineering techniques or modification based on concept design developed by R&D team
- Development of new concepts for new processes or equipment
- Preparation of PFDs, P&ID and other process documentation (PDC, PCD, etc.) based on the conceptual design provided by the R&D team
- Development of control narrative, control scheme, cause and effect matrices and control logics based on the process concept provided by the R&D team
- Preparation of line list, line sizing, PSV calculations and piping specification
- Performing valve selection, valve sizing, prepare valve list and communicate with vendors
- Assessing process equipment and instrumentation requirements based on process concept
- Preparing or completing equipment datasheet and specifications
- Selection of equipment technology, sizing, design, and specification
- Finding and communicating with vendors for equipment selection, design, and quotations
- Reviewing vendor drawings and specification
- Process hazard assessments and risk analysis. Participate in internal HAZOP studies and work with the engineering team during external HAZAOP sessions
- Plant layout development and 3D model reviews
- Providing process data, reports, descriptions, and any other technical data required for R&D purposes including environmental analysis, techno-economical evaluations, process simulation, permitting, etc
- Collaboration with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical, E&IC, civil, etc. and preparation of engineering deliverables for construction contractors to build the plant
- Incorporating new approaches and methodologies into R&D
- Working with contractors or technicians, explaining specifications and tasks, process safety and environmental regulations
- Work with the engineering team with regards to the application of codes, standards and well-known practices.
- Bachelor of Chemical Engineering
- 5 years in a role of process engineer (preferably in Canada)
- Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, hydrometallurgical or similar processes
- Experience with process flow diagrams, P&IDs and other technical documentation
- Knowledge of process design, process technologies, and process control
- Experience with process hazard assessments and risk analysis
- Experience with safety and environmental regulations
- Flexible and able to meet objectives while working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and strict deadlines
- Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiar with EPCM work environment
- Full bilingual proficiency is strongly preferred
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills – able to complete complex tasks quickly and with little guidance and react to matters with the appropriate level of urgency
