Job Purpose:

The Certified OPGW Fiber Technician will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, documenting and testing of all fiber optic lines within a customer’s network.

Responsibilities

- Perform fiber tests with OTDR’s, light source and meters.

- Terminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standards.

- Perform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels.

- Be proficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipment.

- Terminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures.

- Troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficiently.

- Perform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and meters.

- Learn and adhere to all safety standards.

Qualifications

Required:

- Knowledge of Fiber Optics and Networking.

- Be able to read and understand blue prints, designs and work scopes.

- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.

- Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.

- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.

- Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

- NETA certified a plus.

- 5+ years of previous experience in field.

- Degree in Electrical/Electrical technology, or Military experience.

- CWDM and DWDM experience.

- Fiber Optic Certifications.
