FIRST DAY
The Maintenance Planner is a support role responsible for removing all avoidable obstacles which impede efficient and effective repairs. The planner does most of the maintenance job preparation ahead of coordination, execution, and scheduling with operations. The maintenance planner works closely with maintenance supervision and other area supervision, along with predictive maintenance to ensure appropriate prioritization is made for work scheduling.
- Kickoff each workday and follow the planned work schedule. Start the day with Safety. Ensure maintenance workers are following all safety rules. Verify work area exams and SLAMs are completed if assisting in the field.
- Ensure the maintenance jobs planned for the day have all the correct parts and tools necessary to perform the job.
- On more complicated jobs, assist with setup by cross-checking with the supervisor who is leading job execution. Help ensure proper, safe, and efficient work execution is executed with close communication with supervision.
- Schedule 80% of total man-hours to weekly planned maintenance. Make sure Preventative & Predictive maintenance routines are also planned according to the correct frequency.
- Prepare the weekly planning meeting draft by Wednesday and work with supervisors for proper resource allocation.
- Clearly communicate with necessary operations personnel to ensure efficient use of maintenance manpower is achieved.
- Ensure Equipment Parts Lists (EPL) are in order and critical equipment has parts setup in the plant warehouse inventory with accurate part descriptions.
- Plan the annual outage work orders and communicate closely with Outage planner for large jobs that will require scope of work preparation and contractor bids.
- Work with the supervisors and keep a clear list of training needs. Assist the supervisors by planning necessary skill set training on a re-occurring basis.
- Demonstrate leadership and maintain a positive professional attitude. Set high expectations and strive for continuous improvement. Find ways to perform the work more efficiently.
- Hold the maintenance workforce accountable for the highest level of integrity. Ensure the maintenance workforce maintains a consistent and strong work ethic and performs repairs of quality workmanship.
- Six (6) years’ experience in cement or related industry preferred.
- Midlothian Cement operations experience is a plus.
- Mechanical Engineering OR Engineering college degree OR equivalent years’ experience in the mining industry.
- Must keep safety above all else
- Must be able to exercise independent judgment
- Knowledgeable of MSHA standards and requirements preferred
- Possess excellent verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to perform precision measurements cross check work for appropriate machine specifications.

- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, policy manuals and required government regulations

- Walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this production labor position
- Must use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Must have good hand/eye coordination and vision to safely operate equipment
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
- Pass required physical examination and drug screens
Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights. . May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS’s)
