As a Tank Wagon Driver, you'll be entrusted with the essential task of operating a straight truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver petroleum-based products. This full-time, non-exempt role reports directly to the Driver Manager, offering a dynamic opportunity within our transportation team.
Night Shift: 5:00pm - 5:00am Tuesday - Saturday E/O Monday or Sunday - Thursday E/O Friday.
Required Licenses and Certifications: CDL B License, Hazmat, Tanker.
Be available to work flexible hours, including holidays, with shifts potentially extending up to 12 hours or more, all while adhering to hours-of-service regulations.
Safely and efficiently transport fuel from pickup to delivery points, strictly following established safety protocols.
Maintain accurate logs of working hours and vehicle service and repair status, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaborate closely with dispatch to plan optimal delivery routes, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
Verify that the truck is loaded with the correct fuels for each drop location, ensuring accuracy and adherence to delivery instructions.
Deliver products in precise quantities as specified by dispatch and accompanying paperwork.
Promptly report any DOT fines, citations, or other relevant issues to safety and dispatch.
Communicate effectively with safety regarding any customer-related concerns or incidents, such as complaints, spills, leaks, accidents, or injuries.
Coordinate with maintenance regarding any vehicle issues or maintenance needs, promptly reporting any issues for swift resolution.
Demonstrate proficiency in operating all assigned vehicles with precision and skill, including manual transmission trucks.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the truck at all times, ensuring a professional appearance.
Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions accurately, ensuring proper vehicle positioning and equipment setup.
Load fuels as directed at designated truck racks, utilizing fuel arms and hoses safely and efficiently.
Perform general maintenance checks on the truck, including monitoring oil and fuel levels, to ensure operational readiness.
Maintain clear communication with dispatch at the end of each shift, providing updates and receiving instructions as necessary.
Complete all pre-trip and post-trip requirements diligently, ensuring thorough inspections and documentation.
Demonstrate physical capability to push and pull up to 146 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders with a minimum of three rungs regularly.
Proficiently operate dispatch software and electronic logging devices (ELDs) to facilitate efficient operations.
Accurately complete written documentation, including Bill of Lading, inventory records, pre and post-trip inspections, orders, and fuel ticket copies, ensuring alignment with delivery instructions.
Adapt to various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, fumes, temperature extremes, slippery surfaces, low-lit areas, heavy traffic, and high noise levels, with professionalism and adherence to safety protocols.
Navigate hazardous driving conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations, with skill and caution.
Perform responsibilities effectively under high-stress situations, maintaining composure and focus.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues through professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness.
Adhere rigorously to company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines, as well as policies outlined in the employee handbook.
Operate with constant alertness and prioritize safety in all tasks.
Fulfill any additional duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team.
Preferred 3+ years truck driving experience and 1+ experience operating equipment.
Valid CDL class B license with Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brakes endorsement.
Pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Clearinghouse verification and 7-year criminal background check.
