Normal Work Hours and Days: On site for all camp set-ups and demos. Rotational schedule, working 12 hour days for 7 days a week. Mandatory overtime based on seasonal workload and work settings.

Summary:


Perform skilled and semi-skilled labor in the mobe, demobe, set-up, tear-down, repair and maintenance of Cruz facilities, in accordance with OSHA safety regulations and Cruz policies and procedures. Maintenance includes: basic carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work.


Essential Functions:


Inspect facilities; prioritize necessary repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance.
Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled facilities maintenance, preventative maintenance, component replacement, and repair tasks.
Maintain (including preventative maintenance) and check all generators on site to help prevent future mechanical or “Mother Nature”-caused failures. This also includes completing a generator log at least three times a day.
Work on assigned projects and make appropriate decisions based on work experience and individual skill. Notify supervisors of repair problems beyond personal scope of authority—this includes, but is not limited to: generator repairs, camp equipment repairs, and camp structure repairs.
Clean up spills and unsafe conditions in a timely manner and according to procedure.
Inspect and maintain assigned equipment and small tools for proper operating condition, and completes minor repairs as needed.
Operate vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety and regulations and procedures; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
Notifies supervisor of all damage in accordance to Cruz Construction procedures.
Log daily water use and sewage removal.
Assist and/or run/operate sewer and water treatment plants. Training will be provided as needed.
Obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts, and order parts as needed.
Perform outside maintenance, such as snow removal as required.
All Carpenters are required to provide their own tools (SAE and metric). Such tools include, but are not limited to the following:


o Screw drivers


o Nut drivers


o Channel locks (various sizes)


o Socket set (5/16” to 1”)

o Alan wrench set (kit up to 3/8”)

o Alan socket set (1/4” up to 5/8”)


o Crescent wrench set (6”, 8”, 12”)

o Open end wrench set (1/4” to 1”)


o 600V rated meter (1000A or greater)


o Ten in one screw driver


o Aviation snips (right, left, straight)


o Dikes


o Needle-nose plyers


o Lineman’s


o Wire strippers


o Utility blade with safety retraction


o Cordless screw gun (impact)


o Pipe wrench



Other Tasks:


Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably can also perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience: Minimum:


Four years of experience in skilled building trades. 6 months of prior experience as a laborer
Basic skill in carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work.
Valid Driver's License


Preferred:


High School Diploma or GED.
Specific trade certifications/licenses.



Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


Knowledge of basic carpentry, mechanical and basic electrical and plumbing work.
Knowledge of operations and safety practices and procedures.
Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively with fellow workers and clients.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Ability to perform physical labor in harsh winter conditions.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
Ability to work in remote locations in harsh weather conditions
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs and manipulate up to 100lbs.
Ability to work comfortably at heights and in small spaces.
Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.
Skilled in problem solving everyday work-related challenges.
