Position Description:

Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Carlin Environmental team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead critical environmental programs while making a meaningful impact on the sustainability and success of our operations. In this role, you will oversee a team responsible for maintaining compliance with air quality permits and programs, as well as managing all hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs and permits across the Carlin Complex.

Responsibilities:
•Oversee the waste management program, ensuring full compliance with all Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements for Large and Small Quantity Generators, including inspections, profiling, shipments, and manifesting.
•Lead Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
•Ensure all legal and other compliance/permitting obligations associated with Title V Air Permits, Class II Air Permits, Mercury Operating Permits, and Federal Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) requirements are achieved.
•Continuously improve and maintain robust sustainability systems that guarantee air quality and waste management compliance throughout the organization.
•Supervise and manage operational inspections to ensure compliance with permits, including accompanying regulatory inspectors during periodic site visits.
•Guide and mentor environmental staff and oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to management and regulatory agencies.
•Collaborate with operating divisions to help achieve their environmental and operational objectives.
•Lead and deliver impactful training programs for NGM employees, contractors, and other stakeholders.
•Align work practices with NGM Health, Safety, and Environmental ISO 14001 and 45001 standards. Lead by example and promote the NGM Safety and Environmental programs and initiatives.
•Provide after-hours, on-call support for environmental incidents when needed.
•Maintain physical fitness to work in challenging environments, including walking uneven, sloped, rocky, or icy terrain and safely lifting up to 40 pounds.
Take on additional duties as assigned to support department goals and environmental compliance.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field required
•A minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions required
•At least two (2) years in an industrial or mining setting preferred
•Comprehensive knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations required
•Experience in completing Toxics Release Inventory reporting preferred
•Experience in managing air compliance programs required
+ Comprehensive knowledge of Title V air permitting regulations
preferred
•At least 2 years of supervisory experience, demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to guide and motivate teams preferred
•Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills required
•Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure deadlines and compliance standards are met required
•Proficiency with Excel and data management required
•Familiarity with compliance systems and ISO 14001 preferred
•Demonstrated ability to perform essential responsibilities of the position required
